Dr. James J. Connors
Dr. James J. Connors is a Professional Hydrologist and Geoscientist with 40 years of experience working on projects and legal disputes involving surface and subsurface hydrology. His career includes extensive bodies of work as an award-winning academic, a private-sector consultant, and a testifying and consulting expert witness.
Since the 1980s, Dr. Connors has performed environmental and hydrological consulting projects across the U.S. He has been retained as an expert witness in more than 85 legal disputes, including cases in U.S. state and federal courts, and abroad. His practice focuses primarily on:
Environmental contamination, including impacts associated with PFAS, PCBs, nutrients, radiation, metals, fuels, solvents, microbes, landfill leachate, pipeline releases, AFFF/firefighting foam, and other contaminants;
Stormwater runoff and associated flooding, erosion, sediment transport, and sediment deposition, including construction site erosion and sediment control and stormwater flow caused by development and other land-use changes; and
General hydrology, including water-supply, watersheds, wetlands hydrology, natural drainage, hydrology-related accidents, surface-water/groundwater interactions, and coastal and river/stream flow dynamics.
Dr. Connors has also taught university-level courses in hydrology, hydrogeology, geophysics, and geology and served in numerous academic leadership positions. His professional affiliations include the American Institute of Hydrology, the Geological Society of America, the International Association of Hydrogeologists, the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honor Society, and the Sigma Gamma Epsilon National Earth Sciences Honor Society.
